Visitation Matters Training Guide & Resource Manual

In 2013, the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) began collaborating with the Children’s Commission and other stakeholders to identify ways to enhance visitation practices, resulting in a more robust visitation framework of values and guiding principles meant to maintain the parent-child attachment, reduce the child’s sense of abandonment and preserve the child’s sense of belonging to a family and a community.

The Visitation Matters Training Guide and Resource Manual is a collection of 31 files that provides direction and skill development in creating visitation plans that support permanency. Texas CASA encourages every local CASA program to review the guide and get in contact with their local Conservatorship Program Director to discuss opportunities for training and engagement in these new visitation practices for CASA volunteers.
